sorry ya'all!

I'm sorry about the long break between posts-I got really busy with school, and I didn't think anyone was reading it anyways. So in response to the request from Mormon Bachelor Pad, I'm back with another question.
When guys ask on dates...why do they do it? Here at BYU, of course, there's super pressure for girls to date and get married, so we freak out wondering what guys want from us because of this date. Are we wasting our energy? Should we worry about potentially leading a guy on from the very first date? or should we just relax and have fun, because any guy that will be hurt after one date is way too invested?

Mormon Bachelor Pad

Ok. seriously, this is a shout out to mormon bachelor pad. I love that blog. It amuses me immensely, and I am way involved in the lives of these guys that I have never met, and have no idea who they actually are. and truth be told, I have a little crush on Jake. There. I was completely honest.
Anyway, as much as I love mormon bachelor pad, it scares me to death. Do guys honestly approach dating with a focus purely on making out? Is that all that they think about? Because right now, I'm going to look at any guy asking me out as a guy asking me to make out with him. So guys be straight with me. Is a guy willing to date me for me...not just to make out with me? Is it really all about making out and trying to do just a little bit more?? Is there any chance I can find a decent straight guy who honestly just wants to go out, have fun, and get to know more about me?

"In Man Words, It's Time to Pounce!"

Everyone has seen She's the Man right? If you haven't, go rent (or better yet buy) the movie sit down, watch and prepare to bust a gut laughing.
Anyway, there's one part that came to my mind yesterday...In this part of said movie, there are "male" (one is actually a girl, but no one knows) characters sitting around a table discussing one of the girls. Here is exactly what is said Andrew: “Until recently, she was dating this college guy, but he dumped her, and I hear she's a total mess right now. Confidence, self-esteem way down." Toby: “Yeah, so in man words, it's time to pounce!”
So here's why this popped into my head. I was talking to some guys outside their apartment complex...then I got into having a conversation with the girl sitting next to me about our majors. We stopped talking about that, and turned back to the guys, but they didn't notice. As we listened one of them shared this story: "So my brother is trying to fix me up with his girlfriend's best friend. She's coming up here to BYU, and she just broke up with her boyfriend." without waiting to hear the rest of what he had to say, one of the other guys said "That's the best time to strike!" remember, they didn't think that the girls were listening at this point. So just wondering...Is that really when guys think is the best time to strike or pounce or whatever?
Or is it just the best time for something noncommittal...something that one of my friends would call her ego-booster?

Friendship and Attraction

So we've all heard that guys and girls can't be just friends...but we've all seen the friendships that there are...and somehow attraction does somehow tie into most of them.
So why is this guys? Last year one of my friends said her older brother claimed that he couldn't be friends with a girl that he wasn't attracted to. So I was discussing this with another girl as I walked into class, and a random guy from behind us...we'll call him Steve...said that was 100% true. then my guy friend...we'll call him Rick...full on denied it when I talked to him about it later. He said it was the biggest bunch of bull he had ever heard. Finally I asked another guy friend...we'll call him Nick...that night over facebook...and this final guy friend said that it was true to a point. He said that obviously he wasn't exactly eager to date all of his friends that were girls, but if he was going to be spending a lot of time with a girl, he wanted to be attracted to her. So here it is guys. what is the truth? Who was really being honest with me? Steve, Rick, or Nick?
